Meet the Team: David Kelman, Ingredients Sales Manager

As Community Foods prepares to exhibit at the International Food & Drink Event (IFE) this March, visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to meet the people behind the company’s ingredient expertise. One of the team attending will be David Kelman, Ingredients Sales Manager, who works closely with major bakeries to support them with soaked fruit ingredients.


Supporting Bakery Innovation

David works with customers to help them understand the functional and flavour benefits of Community Foods’ fruit ingredients, and how they can be used to create products that stand out in the market.

A key focus of his role is the company’s soaked fruit range, which helps fruit remain plumper and juicier during baking. This improves both the texture and shelf life of finished products such as fruit cakes, buns and morning goods.

From Idea to Finished Product

One project David is particularly proud of involved developing a tea-soaked blend of five fruits sourced from four different countries. The development process took five months and the finished product is now available in a major UK retailer.
